I have grown up in and serve in Presbyterian churches. One of the things I have come to appreciate from my adolescent years is the catechism classes.

Many of us in the Christian faith have attended catechism classes. We are introduced to the Catechism classes to understand our faith to help us grow after our conversion. The Catechisms are drawn from what is known as “Creeds and Confessions” which are affirmations of the Christian doctrines that have their foundations in Scripture. The Creed and Confessions are very important and are not only constrained to one denomination but server the whole body of Christ. As Africans we can appreciate them as they help to ground us in faith. Therefore, we need to understand what they are, how they can be applied and their importance to our daily lives.

Creeds and Confessions 101

If there are two things that have been brought very closely in this past year, it has been COVID and conspiracy theory. If it hasn’t been how COVID has been a gateway for the new 5G technology, it has been how the vaccines are the modern day, scientific version of the mark of the beast.

Humanity often faces many challenges and “Covid” has been one of those great challenges. However, it has been surrounded by a lot of conspiracy theories and it begs the question of whether we can know the truth behind this calamity.  Thus, while “Covid” reveals many uncertainties, as Christians there are those things that we remain certain about. One of those things is the certainty of our Lord Jesus Christ’s coming and the Judgement of the world. In light of this certainty, we are called to prepare ourselves well, especially by going deeper into God’s Word. The Lord has enabled us to be certain about some things and they are eternally important for us all who believe.
